About
Me
CrypticNetwork is something I’ve been eager to bring to life for a while now. It’s more than just a project—it’s a space where I can share my thoughts, ideas, and creative work with you. Whether you’re on the same page or have a different perspective, I want to create a platform that encourages open discussion. As someone who’s passionate about both coding and gaming, I’ll also be sharing my personal projects, both in-progress and completed—ranging from web development to game development. These are my ongoing experiments, where I get to push myself and hopefully inspire others to try something new or even collaborate.
The aim of CrypticNetwork is to foster a laid-back, fun community where creativity thrives. I want people to feel free to explore, learn, and share ideas in a relaxed, no-pressure environment. It's all about connecting over things we love, whether it's discussing the latest game, building projects, or just sharing what we're passionate about.
My journey into web development really kicked off in the early 2000s. After messing around with HTML on Geocities and Angelfire, I launched my first real project: DBZFighters (dbzfighters.com). That site was inspired by an older community called DBZWarriors (dbzwarriors.com), which had a forum full of like-minded people who loved Dragon Ball Z as much as I did. DBZFighters wasn’t just about celebrating DBZ—it was also about creating a space for that same community to grow and connect. This was my first deep dive into web development, and it taught me a ton about how the web worked.
As I spent more time with DBZFighters, my passion for the Anime community grew, and eventually, I rebranded the site into Anime Extraction (animeextraction.com), another project that gave me a lot of room to experiment with content management systems and web design. It was also during this time that I realized how important web security was—back then, the internet was a much more dangerous place, and managing a site meant staying on top of vulnerabilities. That hands-on experience with security was invaluable, and it continues to inform my approach to web development today.
Looking back, I wish I could have kept those projects going, but life (and my military journey) had other plans. I spent time in the Army as a Signals Intelligence Analyst, which gave me a deep appreciation for cryptography and problem-solving. When I left the military, I shifted gears to formal education. I studied Game and Simulation Programming before changing direction to Computer Science and Information Technology. These studies were a huge turning point, where I gained knowledge about modern technologies, databases, and programming concepts. Though my path hasn’t always been straight, each turn reinforced my love for coding and fueled my desire to learn even more.
Today, I’m diving into languages like Go and Rust, revisiting old favorites, and continually challenging myself with new projects. Whether it's web apps, games, or something else entirely, I’m always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what I can create. The same curiosity that started me on Geocities is still the driving force behind everything I do. And while I may not have stuck with those early projects, their influence and lessons are still with me. So if you're into web development, game creation, or just want to follow along with my latest work, I’m glad you're here. I hope you find something that sparks your creativity too.
Oh, and just so you know, my name is Travis Bell—though on the web, I’m better known as Crypticity. Either way, I’m always excited to connect with others who share my passion for tech, games, and all things creative. Thanks for visiting, and I’m looking forward to what comes next!
Values
& Philosophy
At CrypticNetwork, I believe in creating an environment where creativity, collaboration, and transparency come together. It's not just about building projects—it's about building connections and solutions that truly work. While I’ve focused a lot on individual projects, one of my goals moving forward is to get more involved in team collaboration. I want to experience what it’s like to be part of a well-rounded team, learning from others and contributing to shared ideas. That’s something I’m eager to dive into more, as I know it’ll help me grow both personally and professionally.
One of my core values is collaboration. While my experience in project collaboration has been limited, I’m committed to learning how to work effectively with others. I believe great ideas come from diverse perspectives, and working as a team is key to pushing those ideas forward. I’m looking forward to expanding this skill and contributing to projects in a collaborative environment, where everyone can share, learn, and grow together.
Integrity is another key principle. I’m committed to being honest and transparent in all aspects of my work—whether it’s managing a project, solving a problem, or engaging with the community. What I create and how I work matters to me, and I always aim to ensure it’s something that can be trusted and relied upon.
Finally, growth is at the heart of everything I do. I’m always learning, whether it’s picking up a new language or exploring a new technology. The tech world is constantly evolving, and I thrive on the challenge of staying on the cutting edge. This commitment to learning and self-improvement drives everything I do here at CrypticNetwork.
At the end of the day, my goal is to create something that not only works, but also has meaning. I strive to make an impact with every project, offering value and helping others along the way.
